January 2023 Favorites

I don't know where to begin but with saying- monthly favorites posts are back for 2023! Yay! So, I thought I would share what I've been into for this first month of a new year- I hope everyone had a good start to the new year; if not, there are 11 more months to improve anything you want to do. Let's begin with all of that being said!

What I Watched (movie + TV show wise)- I've done a lot of watching this month (unlike me by the way):

The Pale Blue Eye on Netflix- if you love whodunit murder mystery's that keep you guessing until the end and if you also like Edgar Allan Poe, this is a good one- features Christian Bale in it.

That 90s Show on Netflix- just began watching this- binged 4 episodes in one sitting (have 6 more to finish- 10 in total for the series)- started off slow, but gradually got better- since I'm a 90s kid at heart, it was fun to watch.

RuPaul's Drag Race (season 15) on MTV- liking the new season of this so far (been a bit behind but knowing Mama Ru- I'll look forward to whatever antics are up her sleeve)!

Wednesday
(ready for season 2 any day now) on Netflix- just finally got into this as I'm a fan of Tim Burton and enjoyed it- I feel I'm a mix of Enid & Wednesday and the Poe references were great throughout the series- if you watched the finale, were you happy with it? I was surprisingly.

Notting Hill (movie I've never seen) on Netflix (do check your Netflix depending on where you are in the world)- This was recommended by a few people in my life to watch and caved and watched it and loved it. Brought nostalgia back from a trip to England I went on 5-6 years ago (I stayed in Notting Hill if you were curious as to where I stayed then).

Music (most important part here):

"Survive" by VHS Collection: http://youtu.be/8zAW8sbUhnE

"Tell Me I'm Alive" by All Time Low: http://youtu.be/j1emWxdxXBc

"Love From The Other Side" & "Heartbreak Feels So Good" both by Fall Out Boy: video 1: http://youtu.be/oBrkbWSB3Ls ;video 2: http://youtu.be/oGvLD7D2Xsg

"I'm a Mess" by Avril Lavigne ft. YUNGBLUD: http://youtu.be/1TFdjer_U3Y

Coffee Faves (been into whole bean coffee lately- love grinding the beans fresh):

Stumptown Organic French Roast Whole Bean Coffee- link: https://a.co/d/8Y0oxmW- purchased from Amazon with a birthday gift card I had and ended up loving it- delicious as a cold brew infused with orange peel and orange zest and a homemade winter spice latte syrup via @whatrobineats on Instagram- she uses a brown sugar monkfruit sweetener + water as the base (I opted for brown coconut sugar + water as my base) then adds orange zest, cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg (she uses whole spices for the three listed but all I had was fresh cinnamon). The notes in this coffee are clove and bittersweet chocolate- love anything with chocolate in it anyways.

Thrive Market Regeneratively Grown Organic Whole Bean Colombian Coffee- link: https://thrivemarket.com/p/thrive-market-organic-arabica-whole-bean-colombian-coffee-medium-roastutm_source=google&utm_medium=pla&utm_campaign=Shopping_Engagement_Smart_Members&utm_content=671635708076&utm_term=pmax&gclid=Cj0KCQiA8t2eBhDeARIsAAVEga2Y79c6D8bREdaabwU8rgHWhgp_819DsnwcXzDcKBsnKkDGZIvHRJwaAl8DEALw_wcB -bought this from Thrive Market (they do make this in ground if you don't have a coffee grinder too)- the notes in this: caramelly, nutty milk chocolate (sensing a theme with the two coffees I listed?) and this is delicious (also great as a cold brew too).

Fave Memories / Highlights This Month:

  • Visiting a good friend at his new coffee shop with his mom and aunt- they had a wonderful seasonal beverage that I tried which was a gingerbread cold brew- delish!
  • My cousin finally having her baby- cannot wait to squish that face soon!
  • Worked on a story I'm hoping to finish soon- Barista Diaries: Love at First Brew.
  • Doing two challenges this month: Blogilates 30 day good mood challenge (definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone some) and my Yoga with Adriene 30 day yoga challenge (there were days I wasn't as motivated but hey I did it!)
I hope you all are just as excited for these to return to my main random blog- give it some love I'd greatly appreciate it!

Sending lots of love & light your way,

Lauren
